Lufthansa Group Innovator Award

LAT wins in the "Digital Pioneer" category

Award Ceremony as Part of the Lufthansa Group Innovator Award

Lufthansa Aviation Training (LAT) celebrated a significant success at this year's Lufthansa Group Innovator Award. With its groundbreaking project "XR goes Crew Training," LAT won the award in the "Digital Pioneer" category. Representing LAT, Gilad Scherpf, Head of Aviation Training Development Lufthansa Group, and his team received the award on November 26, 2024, at the Lufthansa Group Conference Hotel in Seeheim.

Award-Winning Project: XR Goes Crew Training

The acclaimed project, “XR Goes Crew Training – Our Vision for Efficient and Effective Digital Learning,” represents the integration of Extended Reality (XR) into crew training. With innovative XR-based learning applications, LAT aims to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the training landscape. A highlight of the XR portfolio is the “Airbus Virtual Procedure Training (VPT),” which was already showcased at the Federal Government's Digital Summit in November 2023.

Gilad Scherpf, Head of Aviation Training Development Lufthansa Group, expressed his excitement:

"My entire team, supported by many areas of LAT, and I are thrilled that the work of the past months is now receiving such special recognition, and that we were able to stand out among numerous innovative submissions within the Lufthansa Group. With our XR projects, we aim for greater effectiveness and efficiency in training as part of the digital transformation. As LAT, we can be proud of this award and the confirmation that we are on the right path in training development."

The Lufthansa Group Innovator Award

Now in its eighth year, the Lufthansa Group Innovator Award recognizes the most outstanding projects within the company. Its goal is to spotlight innovations across the Group and honor employees who have contributed to establishing Lufthansa Group as a hub of innovation.

A professional jury selected 50 nominees from numerous submissions. Over a four-week voting period, the best projects were determined by both the jury and all Lufthansa Group employees. The finalists in each of the five categories were invited to the awards ceremony in Seeheim, where the winners were officially announced in a celebratory event.

By winning in the "Digital Pioneer" category, LAT is setting a clear benchmark for the future of digital training development.
